YORK’S “noise patrol” is using a silent electric car to tackle nuisance neighbours.
City of York Council’s night-time, weekend patrol – operated by the environmental protection unit (EPU) – is now using an electric car following last year’s successful trial of the vehicles.

It is the first permanent electric car to be run by the council.

In addition to the electric car, the EPU is also using computer tablets on the noise patrol. The tablets give access to all the information held on the EPU’s databases, which means officers can respond more quickly and accurately to reports of excessive or antisocial noise.

Dafydd Williams, the council’s cabinet member for crime and safer communities, said: “The electric car is perfect for dealing with noise complaints as it is nearly silent itself. With its 109-mile range it is just the thing for driving around York, and at a cost of only 2p per mile it is far cheaper than our previous diesel vans and petrol cars.”

Electric vehicles are hard to come by, especially for commercial use. Zero emissions vehicles, however, can make your business and your employees work smarter and help the environment at the same time. For example, by using commercial electric vehicles instead of standard diesel trucks, the average delivery company will save up to £9,000 over the course of ten years in fuel expenses. Leyland Eco Vehicles can help get your company using congestion charge free trucks to make deliveries and business trips friendly for your wallet and the environment.

Leyland offers Goupil commercial electric vehicles for use in the business sector. One of these
electric vehicles, the G3, has a payload of up to 700 kg to make hauling items for delivery companies quick and easy. In addition, these congestion charge free vehicles are made up of 95% recycled material, making the Goupil vehicle line the most recycled truck on the road today.

If you're looking for specific types of zero emissions vehicles, Goupil can work with your ideas. For
instance, the G3 delivery truck has options that make the bed of the truck flat, boxed, canvased, or tipped, depending on the kind of work you need the G3 to do in your business. In addition, Goupil offers a leaf collector, waste pick up, high pressure cleaner, and water spray versions of the G3. From hauling plants to cleaning up main roads, the G3 has a variety of options to suit every
category of business selling a product.

Leyland Eco Vehicles can travel up to 80 km on one charge; easily enough energy for a company on a daily basis. It is completely street legal, and can carry two passengers. The Goupil G3 is a fantastic way to generate good publicity and to help the environment at the same time.

A long with Goupil Industrie and some help from Manchester Commercials, we have created a really informative squidoo lens.

The lens gives a greate insight into the developments of the Electric Utility Vehicle and also the Hybrid Electric Utility Vehicle. It also has some interactive material in which you can get involved and give your opinion as to the positives and negatives of Eco Vehicles and a chance to suggest any modifications you would like to see to the vehicles available which may sway your next vehicle purchase into being all electric or atleast a hybrid vehicle.

The lens also includes a photo gallery containing some of the newest adaptions to the G3 electric utility vehicle range. Some of these images have never been seen before and are exclusive to this lens.

Leyland Eco Vehicles has been providing electric commercial
vehicles for almost two decades. Leyland's electric utility vehicles are a great investment for businesses as the government helps to reward those that use electric vehicles. Any business that starts to use electric commercial vehicles and electric utility vehicles are given grants to help cover the high cost of electric vehicles. As great as it is to hear about the perks of using these electric vehicles, you may also be curious about how they work.

First, they use an electric vehicle battery that will take a much longer time to recharge than the distance you would get on any other type of vehicle. The electric vehicle battery comes with 5.4kW, which is significantly less than a petroleum engine. However, more power is not needed as these vehicles are for slower stop and start type operations. The battery also has either 240Ah or 320Ah depending on the model. Either way they will come with a 4 year warranty.

When the battery must be charged, after around 400km, it must be taken to a charging station to be plugged into an outlet, there are lots of commercial charging stations up and down the country, however these can also be charged from a domestic power point also. After that, it will take up to 8 hours to fully recharge. Investing in an electric vehicle will help save you money on rising fuel prices. It will also provide you with a clear conscience of using clean transportation.

Saving money is the goal of any company. The utility that Leyland's vehicles offer makes their electric vehicle a must have. Lots of time will be saved, because these vehicles are designed to last longer. It may take a long time to fully charge them, but it is worth the investment. You will feel great about helping the environment, and it gets better as your vehicles will stay on the road longer.
